Extinction was supposed to be forever. But in 2027, scientists are getting closer than ever to bringing some of the world’s most famous EXTINCT animals back to life. From the woolly mammoth and dodo to the Tasmanian tiger and other long-lost species, researchers are using ancient DNA, gene editing, reproductive technology, and genetic engineering to attempt something that once seemed impossible: reverse extinction. But de-extinction isn't as simple as cloning an ancient animal.
